InetSolution Develops New Website for National Runaway Switchboard
UTICA, MI - June 20, 2001 - As the number of runaway, homeless and troubled youth rises, the importance for a confidential source of assistance heightens. The Internet offers an additional means through which runaway youth, teens in crisis, and concerned friends and family members can receive support. To extend its reach, the National Runaway Switchboard selected InetSolution, Inc. http://www.inetsolution.com to complete its federally funded Web Redesign and Expansion Project.
The National Runaway Switchboard (NRS) http://www.nrscrisisline.org has served as the federally-designated National Communication System for runaway and homeless youth since 1974. They operate a confidential hotline for runaway youth, teens in crisis and concerned friends and family members. The NRS provides crisis intervention, message relay between runaways and their parents/legal guardian, referrals and conference calls, education and outreach services and the Home Free Program in partnership with Greyhound Bus Lines, Inc. All services are free and available 24 hours a day. The NRS is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization headquartered in Chicago.
In an attempt to reach the broadest audience, in 1998, the National Runaway Switchboard developed an interactive web site: www.nrscrisisline.org . The web site receives in excess of 5,000 hits per day. It is used by teens who are in crisis, seeking specific information, researching school papers, or seeking general information; parents seeking specific information as a result of a child having run away, general information to avoid the running away of a child; agency, law enforcement, educators and other concerned adults seeking statistics, information, or linkages.
InetSolution, Inc. designed the site to quickly guide runaways, children at risk, parents and others to the information they need to help them solve problems, find help or simply talk to a professional.
InetSolution, Inc. is an advanced Web site and interactive multimedia development company serving a wide variety of industries, including banking, insurance, technology, real estate and education. The NRS is the federally designated national communications system for runaway and homeless youth. The switchboard can be accessed 24 hours a day throughout the United States and its territories, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. To assist families who lack the financial resources to bring a runaway youth home, the NRS offers the HOME FREE Program. For non-English speaking callers, the NRS offers a translation service via the AT&T Language Line. When necessary the NRS connects with a translator who speaks the caller's language. Many languages are available including Spanish, Polish, French, German, Japanese and Arabic. The NRS also offers a TDD line for the hearing impaired. This line can be accessed by calling 1-800-621-0394. For more information about NRS, visit their site at http://www.nrscrisisline.org
