Top 5 Most Popular CMS for Credit Union Websites
Most credit union websites today are built on top of either commercial or open source content management systems (CMS). We performed an analysis of credit union websites throughout the country to identify the most popular credit union website CMS. We have identified the top five most popular commercial and open source content management systems credit union websites use.
Note: We are still analyzing bank websites, so we cannot say for certain these are the most popular CMS for financial institutions in general, but these are the most popular for credit unions.
Credit Unions Over $1 Billion in Assets
Among credit unions over one billion dollars in assets (358 credit unions in our sample), WordPress is the most popular with a 16% market share. This group favors enterprise platforms almost as much, with Kentico CMS occupying the second slot with 11% market share. In this group, we suspect their website budgets are larger than their smaller peers, so while WordPress and Drupal are still popular open source choices, these big credit unions appear more able to afford the licensing expense of the more capable enterprise content management platforms like Kentico, Sitefinity, and Sitecore. There are also quite a few other commercial CMS platforms represented in this group.
